The internship is located in the Conference and General Services Section (CGSS) within the Division of Administration.
Duration: 3 to 6 months, depending on the needs of the Division.
ESCAP’s CGSS provides one-stop conference support services to ESCAP and the broader UN community, including:
Operation of the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok (UNCC)
Conference management, protocol, and host country relations
General services including travel, transportation, catering, shipping, and other commercial activities
The internship is unpaid and full-time (35 hours per week), with flexible working arrangements subject to conditions.
Interns work under supervision of a staff member within CGSS.
The internship is suitable for candidates seeking hands-on experience in conference management, general services, host country relations, and catering services.
Applicants should have strong drafting skills in English.
Daily Responsibilities May Include:
Assisting in drafting and preparing official documents
Attending and summarizing meetings
Conducting document, market, and internet research
Working on web-presentations
Compiling statistics
Generating statistical and other reports, work orders, etc., using Excel and SAP
Performing data entry and extraction functions
Conducting media analysis
Conducting project evaluations
Liaising with other ESCAP Sections and/or UN entities on CGSS administrative matters
Using MS Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Qualifications / Special Skills
Must meet one of the following educational requirements:
Enrolled in or completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher)
Enrolled in or completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent)
Computer literate in standard software applications
Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter
Ability to successfully interact with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds, including tolerance of differing opinions and views
No prior work experience required
Languages
English: fluency in spoken and written required
Thai: fluency in spoken and written required
French: working language of the UN Secretariat
Additional Information
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations
Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or sponsoring institution
Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the host country may require the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization
