Duties and Responsibilities
Support the Global Asset Management Policy Service in the Field Operations Finance Division on planning, design, and implementation of major construction projects within the UN Global Secretariat.
Assist the Service in coordinating and providing inputs to UN budgetary committees such as ACABQ and the Fifth Committee.
Support project staff in implementing global capital construction projects, including cost, time, scope, and risk management.
Work with Secretariat entities on policies related to rental income, lease administration, space utilization, flexible workplace, facilities improvement, maintenance, and long-term capital planning.
Research and document project data, processes, policies, and best practices in construction management.
Draft and prepare reports, guidelines, and presentations.
Support knowledge management by capturing lessons learned, preparing official documents, and drafting clear and concise meeting notes.
Provide logistical and administrative support for hybrid meetings.
Coordinate with other UN offices and sections.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Enrolled in or completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher), or enrolled in or completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Field of study should be closely related to the internship.
Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
Good data visualization and presentation skills are desirable.
Academic training in architecture, engineering, construction management, or related fields is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an advantage.
Additional Information
Visa and work authorization are mandatory.
For in-person internships in the USA, non-US citizens/permanent residents must obtain a G-4 visa for a full-time internship.
Candidates on student visas (F-1 or J-1) with employment authorization may only intern part-time.
