Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the design team of ESCWA with daily tasks under the supervision of the Senior Designer.
  • Assist in the design and layout of information materials, including:
    • Policy briefs
    • Booklets
    • Flyers
    • Roll-up banners
    • Social media posts
    • PowerPoint presentations
  • Create logos, infographics, illustrations, and drawings.
  • Assist in developing scripts, moodboards, and storyboards, and produce animated short movies.
  • Liaise with authors and language colleagues on project specifications and requirements.
  • Perform other related tasks as required.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Applicants must:
    • Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or higher), or
    • Be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level), or
    • Have already graduated with a university degree.
  • Applicants must:
    • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
    • Have a demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
    • Be able to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Xpress) is required.
  • Knowledge of Adobe After Effects and Premiere is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is desirable.
  • No previous work experience is required.

Languages

  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
  • Knowledge of French is desirable.
  • Note: “Fluency” means proficient in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding; “Knowledge of” means confident in at least two of the four areas.

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
  • Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or sponsoring institutions.
  • Non-citizen interns may need to obtain appropriate visas and work/employment authorizations.
