Internship is UNPAID; interns work five days per week (full time – 40 hours)
Duties and Responsibilities
Support the preparation and production of the 2025 UNODC ROSEAP Annual Report by assisting with data collection, content development, multimedia integration, and coordination with country offices and programme teams.
Report to the Associate Programme Development Officer (first reporting officer) and the Communication Officer (second reporting officer).
Perform tasks including:
Assist in compiling inputs from country offices and thematic programme teams
Support the development of human-interest stories and impact narratives
Organize content by country and thematic area
Assist in preparing visual materials using tools such as Canva, PowerPoint, or other design platforms
Support the M&E Officer in extracting and organizing data from monitoring tools (e.g., Smartsheet)
Ensure data accuracy and consistency across report sections
Provide initial proofreading and formatting support
Track feedback from focal points and incorporate revisions under supervision
Liaise with focal points from country offices and programme teams to follow up on contributions
Assist in scheduling and documenting meetings of the Annual Report Working Group
Assist in preparing the final version of the report for approval and dissemination
Support the uploading and formatting of the electronic version
Perform other tasks as required
Qualifications / Special Skills
Meet one of the following requirements:
Enrolled in, or recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher)
Enrolled in, or recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
Computer literate in standard software applications
Familiarity with visual materials tools (e.g., Canva, PowerPoint, other design platforms)
Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the Charter
Ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs
Field of study closely related to the internship is required
Good knowledge of standard software applications (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams)
Ability to draft reports and produce high-quality written content
Ability to independently conduct research and develop research products
Knowledge and experience with data management and analysis tools
Knowledge of UNODC mandate areas, particularly region-specific security dynamics, is desirable
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage
Official UN languages include: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations
Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions
Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization
