Support the mapping and analysis of national Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) financing systems
Collect and organize information on DRR financing strategies across countries and regions
Review the presence of dedicated DRR funds, fiscal risk assessments, budget tagging systems, and risk financing instruments
Contribute to the design and structuring of the DRR financing database
Develop and refine datasets capturing key variables of national and sectoral DRR financing strategies
Ensure data standardization and comparability across countries
Assist in the analysis of DRR financing strategies and expenditure patterns
Review national strategies, public investment frameworks, and budget documents
Identify trends, good practices, and capacity gaps in risk reduction investments and financing mechanisms
Contribute to data visualization and presentation of findings
Support preparation of visual materials such as maps, graphs, dashboards, and summary tables using PowerBI
Draft analytical notes, background briefs, presentations, or sections of reports
Summarize findings and support IFRU initiatives on anticipatory finance, budget tagging, integrated national financing frameworks (INFFs), and coherence between DRR and climate adaptation finance
Provide ad hoc support to meetings, events, outreach, and collaborative projects
Assist in organizing internal/external meetings, technical workshops, meeting minutes, talking points, communication materials, and knowledge exchanges (e.g., national training workshops, CCRO network)
Qualifications / Special Skills
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
Enrolled in or completed a graduate program (second university degree or higher)
Enrolled in or completed the final year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s or equivalent)
Field of study closely related to the internship is required
Good knowledge of standard software applications, specifically MS Excel and PowerPoint
Skills in data science and software such as MS PowerBI and R are desirable
Professional work experience is not required
Languages
Fluency in English required
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset
Official UN languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish
