Duties and Responsibilities

  • The internship is located in the Office of the Secretariat of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety (Special Envoy), United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), Geneva.
  • Under the supervision of the Coordinator of the Secretariat, the intern will:
    • Undertake research to support the identification of potential partners and inform the activities of the Special Envoy.
    • Draft articles, briefing notes, and other outreach communications to raise visibility of the global road safety crisis.
    • Conduct research on initiatives highlighting the nexus between road safety and other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
    • Support events, campaigns, projects, and activities planned for the Special Envoy.
    • Assist with relevant activities on social media.
    • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications / Special Skills

  • At the time of application, candidates must meet one of the following:
    • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
    • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).

Languages

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
  • Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
