Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with monitoring the media for news stories of interest to the UN and UNO.
  • Research, draft, and update content for public information outreach and advocacy, both online and offline, under guidance from the Head of the UN Information Office (DGC Representative) or relevant subject matter experts.
  • Assist in recording, editing, and subtitling videos.
  • Support media outreach, including distribution of press releases and other information materials to mass media and civil society organizations.
  • Help organize activities for planned and ad hoc UN events, such as round tables, conferences, and Model UNs.
  • Provide general support for public information activities and meetings.
  • Assist with drafting news stories.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications / Special Skills

  • Must meet one of the following:
    • Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or higher).
    • Enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level).
  • Computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
  • Ability to interact successfully with individuals from different cultural backgrounds, showing tolerance and understanding of differing opinions.
  • Professional experience is not required.

Languages

  • Fluency in English and Persian is required.
  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

  • Personal History Profile must include all past work experiences, IT skills, and three references.

  • Interns must provide their own hardware (computer), software, and internet connection to perform the internship remotely.
  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the UN. Travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution.
  • Non-citizens or non-permanent residents may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization; successful candidates should confirm visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
