Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Sustainable Development and Countries in Special Situations Section (SDCSS) in event organization, communications, and stakeholder engagement related to the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) and the 2030 Agenda follow-up and review.
  • Provide logistical support for meetings and events organized by the section, specifically for the APFSD.
  • Design and create communications and social media outreach materials, including videos, flyers, social media cards, briefs, presentations, documents, and blogs.
  • Support in updating related websites with relevant material.
  • Perform tasks related to strategic communications and public information.
  • Upload knowledge management products to the external website.
  • Research, analyze, and present information gathered from diverse sources.
  • Prepare meetings with internal and external stakeholders, as required.
  • Monitor, moderate, and engage with online communities.
  • Support the delivery and reporting of trainings, learning events, and other capacity development initiatives.
  • Support youth engagement processes and activities surrounding the APFSD.
  • Assist the team in day-to-day activities and other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or higher), or
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level), or
  • Have graduated with a university degree and commence the internship within one year of graduation.

Languages

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).

Additional Information

  • Internship is UNPAID and full-time (five days per week, 37.5 hours).
  • Interns are responsible for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses.
  • Non-citizens or non-residents may require appropriate visa and work authorization.
  • Interns gain first-hand experience of SDCSS activities and direct engagement in the APFSD
