Addis Ababa is the capital of one of the most populous nations and growing economies in Africa. The bustling Ethiopian city also houses headquarters and regional country offices of international organizations such as the U.N. Economic Commission for Africa and the African Union Commission.
In addition to several other U.N. entities, such as the World Bank, and governmental organizations, including the U.S. Agency for International Development, many NGOs and consulting firms are also active in the city, helping fuel a steady stream of job opportunities for global development professionals. Based on an analysis of job postings data from Devex’s board over the past 12 months and as of Feb. 12, 1,190 job announcements have been based in Addis Ababa, which accounts for 61% of the opportunities located in Ethiopia.
With the 37th African Union summit currently in progress, we’re taking the opportunity to explore the top global development employers and opportunities in Addis Ababa, distinguishing between the U.N. agencies and international organizations actively involved in the city and country.
