Abdikarim Hersi

I am Dr. Abdikarim Mohamed Hersi, Swedish in nationality but originally Somali in nationality and studied in Sudan. With the reference to the advertisement of the position of Senior Agronomist/Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) Rwanda in your website, for your information I am very interesting in this position. I have PhD degree in agriculture from Khartoum University and Master degrees in Project management and Operational Development from Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. I have more than 10 years of experience in the field of food security and livelihood coordination ; rehabilitation and development of agricultural infrastructure; emergency relief and water and sanitation.

With the regard of experiences, I worked with different local NGOs in Somalia that partner with CARE/US AID, UNCHR, UNDP, CIDA, UNICEF, NED and OCHA, IRDF (based in Canada), COMIC RELIEF(based in UK) and as well international organizations like Qatar Red Crescent society and Arab league. From April 2002-July 2005, I worked for Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (under the Arab league) as liaison officer in Somalia. Similarly during 2012-April 2015, , I worked with Qatar Red Crescent as food security and livelihood coordinator and as well the deputy of country director. During the last 10 years, I have been involving in sustainable agriculture development in Somalia particularly supporting for the small farmers with farm inputs, extension services, rehabilitation of irrigation infrastructures etc. Similarly I developed and implemented nutrition projects with the partnership with INICEF.

In addition, I am very excellent in programme coordination with different stakeholders(donors, local authorities, beneficiaries etc), designing and writing of project proposals, report writing, budgeting; financial control system, procurement procedures, coordination with different stakeholders, implementation of different projects, monitoring and evaluation, Conflict sensitive analysis for planning and implementation of projects in conflict areas, capacity building for organizational staff , developing of agriculture extension training manuals, data collection and analysis, strategic planning, project staff management, , Project Cycle Management etc.

NB: I am at moment in Sweden for family visit but If won in this position, I will be available in the project within maximum 10 days .
