3 months with possibility of extension up to 6 months maximum
Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Legal Officer, the intern will:
Assist in handling cases before the Management Evaluation Unit and UN Dispute Tribunal (UNDT)
Search for precedents, gather relevant documentation, and analyze the jurisprudence of the UNDT and the United Nations Appeals Tribunal (UNAT)
Perform research on a broad range of legal and policy questions related to human resources and Administrative Law
Assist in drafting routine correspondence
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Special Skills Candidates must:
Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme in law (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme in law (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent)
Be computer literate in standard software applications including MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter
Demonstrate the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat
For this internship, fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is desirable

Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions
Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization
