Dr. Michael S. Nhim

I have been working for 23 years in multi-sectoral programs of International NGO in different countries in Asia, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa of which my posts are under the direction of my various upper managements. I play a key role with crucial responsible for ensuring the establishment and management of processes to support high quality development and implementation relates to strategic direction, leadership, risk and compliance, oversee programs and projects, liaison and representation, administration, finance, procurement, capacity building, human resources, security asset management. In this regard, I lead my country team and senior managers ensuring best practice in both people and program management utilizing my skill and knowledge in international humanitarian development and integrated program, proposal writing, organizing, coordinating with multi activities and multi team cultures, budget and reporting documents, project design and planning, perform effective financial management ensuring accountability and transparent, proven representative, clear communication and negotiation, underpin strategy, well-known of relevant institutions with management information systems (MIS).

On top of this, I have proven experiences of track record of significant and successful senior management and leadership working to meet objectives, project design, development and management; management monitoring and evaluation, risk assessment and mitigation and contract compliance, working within complicated national and political frameworks, significant international work in program development, humanitarian, emergency and reintegration program, quality management approach, negotiating with donors, government bodies, other NGOs and local partners, managing finance, administrative and human resource systems to ensure project efficiency and transparency, holistic commitment to core values and strategic direction of organization, represent and promote all stakeholders, proven ability to lead a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team, establish effective working relationships at all levels through cultural sensitivity and adaptability.

I am currently the Country Director for SIDO (INGO) for 7 years appointed by my top management in Australia with a rotational contract that ends soon, and that is a person with flexible and adaptable to a new place, any suitable posts, wages and situations. I am planning for at least 10+ years of my next posting in Cambodia or in other countries whereas it is possible.

In a short, my main jobs are representation of organization at all matters and aspects at country and regional levels, facilitating links to national development agendas through partnerships with various stakeholders including ministries, NGOs, UN, and other agencies in each country, responsible for the growth and development with timely and efficient implementation of the country and regional program portfolios towards results based focus.

More ever, I also recently just back from Geneva - Switzerland, France, and London - UK for various meetings with different experts and another special meeting invited by the United Nations - High Commissioner for Human Right in Switzerland directly meeting with Madam Chair and her Committee Members discussing on the Network Strategies and Systems of the Forum on CSOs, Community Organizations, UN/IOs, Private, Media and the Public on the issues of Human Rights, Humanitarian Affairs and other different Corporate Programs Developments.

I have got a Master’s Degree of International Relations, Political Sciences, Diplomacy and a Doctor’s Degree of Business Administration and Economics, and used to be a Country Director, Regional Director, and the Consultant & Specialist at INGOs sectors for 23 years leading and managing various humanitarian and development programs at regional, national, sub-national, and grass-root levels. As working with multi-nations and various countries for many years, I am definitely sensitivity and understanding of their languages, cultures, politics, socio-economic and ethnic composition.
