Laurent Mtayangulwa

I am a graduate of Environment and Natural Resources Assessment and Management from the University of Dar Es Salaam; a registered Environmental Expert with NEMC, and a trained person with National Occupational Safety and Health Authority (Tanzania). For the past eleven years, I have been working at different offices including government, consultancy firms, and in construction projects (linear projects such as roads, power lines, water development) under capacities of an Officer, Associate Consultant, Specialist and Manager in fields of Environmental, Natural Resources Management and Social/Community Engagement. Under such capacities, I have been able to participate in developing and implementing management plans, policies and programmes regarding environmental protection/restoration/management; community awareness; monitoring and evaluation of work progress and conducting Environmental and Social Assessments. Moreover, I have been responsible to establish and maintain effective Environmental Management System (EMP) through compliance to project’s Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and other relevant Legal requirements; conducting Environmental & Social Impacts Assessments (ESIA); and ensure continuous improvement in environment management and restoration, community welfare, safety, health affairs and HIV/AIDS awareness. In consultancy works, I have participated/teamed up in carrying out, and prepare reports on Environmental Impacts Assessments (EIA), Social Impacts Assessments (SIA), Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP), and develop Resettlement Action Plans for various construction projects in Tanzania. I have worked with International recognized companies such as Bam International and Per Aarsleff from Holland and Denmark Respectively; Symbon Power LLC and Pike LLC from USA.
