Duties and Responsibilities
Internship available in the NGO Relations, Advocacy & Special Events Section, Outreach Division, Department of Global Communications.
Connect the UN with CSOs affiliated with DGC and assist in disseminating information about UN activities.
Collaborate with CSOs whose missions align with the UN through the Civil Society Unit.
Support the Non-Governmental Liaison Service (NGLS) in managing Call for Participation among Civil Society Entities.
Two unpaid, full-time internships available for six months, working up to five days per week (35 hours).
Supervised by the Programme Manager of NGLS and the Communications Officer in the Civil Society Unit.
Responsibilities under supervision include:
Screen and review registration applications for High-Level Events supported by NGLS.
Analyze and run data for registration statistics.
Create infographic reports for events.
Review and compile CSO submissions for the civil society newsletter.
Create social media cards, video content, event flyers, and RSVP forms.
Monitor generic office email and respond to emails.
Assist with NGLS annual report, event planning, and taking meeting minutes.
Assist in organizing DGC Civil Society Unit briefings and special events.
Provide technical support during meetings.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Enrolled in or completed a graduate program (Master’s or equivalent) or final year of a first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent).
Field of study should be related to the internship.
Good knowledge of standard software applications: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Ability to draft emails, publications, and social media content is desirable.
Languages
Working languages: English and French.
Fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of an additional UN official language is an advantage.
