Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute as a research assistant to the implementation of the Gender Equality Observatory’s activities
  • Support planning and monitoring, with an emphasis on the regular update of statistical indicators and knowledge production
  • Draft documentation, systematize databases, and prepare materials, inputs, summaries, and concept notes
  • Support the organization of meetings
  • Review documents and collect information
  • Update databases
  • Attend, organize, and take notes in meetings and events
  • Prepare draft presentations and documents
  • Conduct data analysis on gender equality and women’s autonomy

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • High School Diploma required
  • Applicants must meet one of the following:
    • Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
    • Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent or higher)
  • Applicants are not required to have professional work experience
  • Field of study closely related to the internship is required
  • Must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s, or Ph.D. programme, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme
  • Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Teams
  • Relevant knowledge of gender equality, social sciences, and international relations is desirable

Languages

  • Fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) is required
  • Knowledge of Portuguese is desirable

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations
  • Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization
  • Successful candidates should discuss specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer
