This is a fully remote, UNPAID internship and normally full-time (35 hours per week), but it may be adjusted to part-time (20 hours per week) depending on the needs of the successful candidate.
A full-time internship is for an initial two months, while a part-time internship is for an initial four months.
Internships may be extended up to a maximum of six months, subject to divisional needs.
The position is based in the Security Sector Reform and Governance Standing Capacity (SSuRGe) at the United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC), Brindisi, Italy.
The intern reports to the Chief of the SSuRGe team based in Brindisi, Italy.
Within delegated authority, responsibilities include:
Supporting country and/or regional-level backstopping activities
Gathering, researching, analysing, and presenting information from various sources
Assisting in drafting official documents (minutes, briefing notes, draft notes, etc.)
Supporting team planning and preparatory efforts for field support
Assisting in data and information management, including monitoring
Supporting the organization of meetings
Performing other duties as required
Qualifications / Special Skills
Applicants must meet at least one of the following:
Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate programme (second university degree or higher)
Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
Applicants do not need prior professional work experience, but their field of study must be relevant to the internship.
Applicants must be:
A final-year student in a bachelor’s programme, or
A Master’s or Ph.D. student, or
A graduate of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme

An official certificate may be required at a later stage.
Good knowledge of standard software applications is required, especially:

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Knowledge of French is desirable.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
